With a population of 24,232 (includes students) (2006) Mansfield is a sizable Connecticut town that is the main campus of the University of Connecticut (UConn) in the Storrs village of Mansfield.
First incorporated in 1702 from the town of Windham, the 45.5 square mile town largely got its start as a major manufacturer of thread and other textiles. In fact, the first silk mill in the country was located in Mansfield. Mansfield residents enjoy a culturally diverse area rich in many educational and recreational opportunities including on the University campus and off. Residents have access to the Mansfield Community Center which is open for a fee to town residents.
