Colchester at a Glance
Colchester, Connecticut was founded in 1698 at a point just north of the present Town Green at Jeremiah's Farm on land purchased by Nathaniel Foote from the Sachem of the Mohegan Indians.
Colchester, a rural southeastern Connecticut in New London County and is just off of Route 2 which makes it an easy commute to Hartford, Glastonbury or the casino areas in Southeastern CT. The population was 16,068 at the 2010 census. In 2005 it was ranked 57th on the "100 Best Places to Live" in the United States, conducted by CNN. Area: 49.8 sq miles (129 km²).
Visit the Day Pond State Park, where the trails are well marked and there is plenty of space to stretch your legs. It also covers over 180 acres in the town!
