I finally visited one of Mansfield’s newest preserves, the Simpson-Wood Preserve on Route 89 across the road from the Mt. Hope Park. It is an easy 2 mile trail among 114 acres of woods with some beautiful ledges and stonewalls. There are a couple of “alternate routes” that skirt slight inclines if you prefer strictly level hiking.
Mansfield has plenty of trails and preserves for those of us tired of doom scrolling Twitter or appalled by the insult hurling and alternative reality that regularly erupts on our personal feeds or community pages. Joshua's Trust also boasts a large number of trails and preserves in Mansfield and surrounding towns.

I encourage personal users and moderators of community pages— whose full time job has become weeding out local, profane blowhards and outright lunatics— to take a break, meander some trails, indulge in some forest bathing and to front the essential facts of life, not the ones we are currently exposed to.
